Massage
Remedial massage is a physical treatment for muscle and joint problems, which if not addressed can lead to general aching and tiredness, specific pains induced by muscle compression on nerves, or restricted joints.
Massage can provide numerous benefits, such as improving blood and nutrient flow to the muscles, reduce swelling, remove toxins, promote relaxation and reduce muscle tension.
Today massage is seen as a complementary therapy, but in fact is one of the oldest forms of treatment known to man. It is non-invasive, drug free and generally a pleasure to receive.
During a massage session
At the first treatment session a detailed case history will be taken, including details of general health and past illnesses and accidents. This is to ensure that the treatment you have asked for is safe and appropriate for you, and that any medical conditions can be taken into account.
For the massage, appropriate clothing will need to be removed, and treatment is carried out using a cream or oil directly onto the skin. The clinic is kept covered and warm at all times apart from the body area being worked upon. The massage is based on Swedish massage, with additional techniques to get deep into the muscles and mobilise the joints.
