Arthritis Pain
What Is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and manual treatment
concerning the bones, joints, muscles, ligaments and
connective tissues of the body. It helps to relieve pain, restore
mobility and improve the quality of life for many patients.
We will take a case history, consider your lifestyle, use skilled
touch, orthopaedic testing and clinical examination to find out
what is going on. We then ensure you have a diagnosis of the
problem, which is explained to you with a suggested plan of action.
We take the time to explain our thoughts, diagnosis and treatment,
to ensure you are fully aware of your treatment plan and the
approach behind it.
How Do We Treat?
Our treatment may use any combination of movement,
stretching, deep tissue massage, mobilisation and
manipulation of a person’s muscles and joints to improve
function, relieve pain and aid recovery. We may also use a cranial approach, which uses very gentle manipulative pressure to encourage the release of stresses throughout the body.
In addition, we will often prescribe rehabilitative exercises
which are fundamental to good recovery helping with flexibility
and strength. We are interested in educating patients in the
concept of a wellness lifestyle and empowering them to take
an active role in achieving a state of health and well-being.
