WHAT IS PODIATRY?
A podiatrist is a health professional who deals with the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of medical and surgical conditions of the feet and lower limb. A podiatrist can provide treatment for many common foot problems but also specializes in more complex conditions for example; nail surgery, biomechanical problems and problems arising from systemic disease for example Diabetes.
WHAT WOULD YOU EXPECT AT YOUR FIRST VISIT?
New patients visiting the podiatrist will undergo an initial general and foot health assessment. The podiatrist will carry out the necessary treatment and appropriate foot health advice will be given. So the patient can enjoy rapid relief from the condition causing the foot discomfort. It is often necessary for patients to return to the podiatrist on a regular basis to ensure feet are kept in optimum condition so ensuring the best possible mobility and quality of life.
