Massage is one of the oldest forms of treatment and can help a wide range of problems and conditions. There are over 80 different types of massage, from the light rhythmical touch of manual lymphatic drainage to deep tissue / sports massage. This touch therapy will benefit on all levels – physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. it is non-invasive, drug free and generally a pleasure to receive.

Massage provides numerous benefits, such as improving blood and nutrient flow, reducing swelling, removal of toxins. It will induce relaxation and reduce muscle tension. It helps greatly in alleviating stress and will promote healing and restore balance.

During a Massage Session

On your initial visit Helen will take a full case history, including details of general health and past illnesses and accidents. An appropriate treatment plan will be discussed. Where relevant diet and lifestyle advice will be given. Post treatment exercises will often be given to help in the healing and strengthening of the body.

For the treatment appropriate clothing will need to be removed. Treatment is carried out using high quality blended aromatherapy oils directly onto the skin. The body is kept covered and warm at all times apart from the area being worked upon.

Each treatment is individually tailored to the clients needs. The method of treatment will be discussed and agreed prior to the session. Treatment often includes deep tissue work, joint mobilisation, soft tissue stretches and can also include myofascial release, reflexology, and cranial therapy where appropriate. Manual lymphatic drainage involves a very light and rhythmical massage technique.
